Let's Talk PD Spotlight: Jerry Yarov
Let’s Talk PD Spotlight: Jerry Yarov
The day I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, about 12 years ago, was probably one of the worst days of my life. All I remember is that I was told that I had a degenerative brain disease of which there was no cure. I knew absolutely nothing about it and did not have a clue what the rest of my life would be like, let alone what the rest of that week would be like.
The neurologist was very informative in explaining what causes Parkinson’s and the possible symptoms of the disease. Once he went over possible medications and scheduled our next appointment, my wife and I went home – when we arrived home we suddenly felt very much “alone” because we did not know what to do then. Our next appointment was not for 3 months.
This is where “Let’s Talk PD”, offered by NPF Ohio, can help. Let’s Talk PD affords you the opportunity to talk with a patient that has been through this very trying time. This conversation can answer many questions that your doctor did not answer. Please keep in mind, we are not suggesting that this conversation will replace your doctor’s advice. Furthermore, you will be advised of free reference material that covers every aspect of Parkinson’s Disease. Talking with a person that has had PD will hopefully put your mind at ease long before you have your next appointment with your doctor.
If you would like to talk to Jerry or another Parkinson’s Partner about your Parkinson’s, or if you are interested in becoming a Parkinson’s Partner, send an email to LetsTalkPD@Parkinson.org or call our office at 614-890-1901.
